There are a LOT of cool things going on in the Copper River School District! To streamline your access to news, events, and activities in our schools, we have combined the school blogs into one...which means there's no more clicking on individual school blog links to find out what's happening across the district!
Please plan to attend the Copper River School District Indian Education Committee Meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 3:30PM in the CRSD District Office Conference room. Now is a great time for parents of pre-schoolers to start thinking about school readiness. Alaska Department of Education and Early Development Commissioner Michael Hanley created an initiative to encourage parents and other care-givers to interact with young children in ways that promote school readiness. EED has published a flier and postcard to promote singing, playing, reading and other fun activities. As stated in the materials, home should be one of the best places to start learning! Please forward these resources to your friends and family who have pre-school aged children.

A team of CRSD educators has been hard at work at ASTE (Alaska Society for Technology in Education) the last few days, learning about the governor's proposal to establish a statewide 1:1 program, the latest in technology tools, and key research findings related to purposeful use of tech-tools in the classroom. CRSD teachers Carla Schierholt (Kenny Lake 2nd/3rd grade teacher) and Ray Voley (Kenny Lake JH/HS teacher) were both selected to present sessions at the annual statewide tech conference. Both teachers presented engaging sessions to full-capacity rooms. Thanks to Carla and Ray for their tech-focused leadership in their schools, our district, and at the state level! (Posted by T.
