This is my maiden Blog – so be understanding. Students are back for the second semester with renewed vigor and optimism. The weeks of January 20th and the 27th our students will be participating in the MAPs and AIMs assessments. These assessments assist us in determining areas of growth as well as those areas that need additional attention. The data generated from these assessments also influence lesson planning and help us in identifying specific learning issues for individual students.
We recently held our 2nd quarter awards assembly. Students were recognized for their academic efforts, attendance, athletic accomplishments, and the character they have demonstrated. In fact, approximately 24 students’ names were drawn (based on character) to participate in our Sundae/Monday with the principal. This event provides an opportunity for the principal and students to eat ice-cream while we discuss the merits of top-shelf character. With so many students involved in Sundae/Monday, I may have to divide this group in half, meaning two separate Sundae/Mondays, with a double portion of ice-cream for the principal.
