Artist-in-Residence Deland "Doc" Anderson spent two weeks with Glennallen School's 6th-8th grade students, teaching them about about color, design, and the art of pointillism. Students created individual works that were on display during a gallery walk in the Glennallen School Commons. In addition, many of the students collaborated with Mr. Anderson to design and paint a large canvas featuring dot-painted panther paws. A dramatic mountain silhouette painting was completed during Mr. Anderson's studio hours during the residency and will remain at the school as a gift by and from the artist. What an AMAZING way to wrap up the school year! Thanks, Doc, for sharing your art with our students!
The New Visions Arts Grant, funded by the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Alaska Department of Education, helped to fund Mr. Anderson's residency at Glennallen School.
