We trust you all have had a fantastic summer. As we start this new year we have to share in the excitement of some summer happenings. We started the summer with our archery team going to nationals. We have a new lead teacher and her children to introduce. And we have goals set for the new school year.

First to start off, we need to applaud our awesome archery team. We are so proud of our archery team which started off the summer heading to the National Tournament in Kentucky. We are grateful for the support of the school district and the community in helping to fund this event. We are most thankful for our excellent coaches, Ole Bates and Lyle Beauchamp who dedicate many hours of their own time to help each and every team member. We are excited for the season to start, which will be sometime in October (after hunting season).

Ms. Sylvia Lowery is our new lead teacher and comes to us with a lot of great experience. She is joined by her two children, Star (8 th Grade) and Eddie (6 th Grade) who are excited about starting school in Slana. Some of you may have met them during the summer as they hit the ground running setting up their household in June. They are excited to be living and working in Slana and I know they will be a great addition to our team.

Mrs. Quinton (admin/aide/custodian), Mrs. Abraham (aide), and Mr. Ellis (TREK driver) will be returning again this year. With the addition of Ms. Lowery we will have a strong team who will work hard with each student to help them achieve to their full potential. Ms. Lowery has already been looking at the curriculum and individual student needs so she will be starting fast from day 1.

Our goal this year is to have all (that is 100%) of our students on grade level for math and reading. We are not that far off and with a lot of hard work (remember grit and growth mindset), I know we can do it. This achievement is based on the effort you put into your work and your attendance. Being there and being on time for classes is extremely important. You cannot learn if you are not there. And the effort you put forth comes back to you and your achievement. Make it worthwhile.

I am looking forward to our new school year and seeing each one of you on August 23 (Thursday). As always if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me by email, phone, or text.

Dr. Everett, Principal
