Students in Marine Biology dissected Spiny Dogfish Sharks, which is the most abundant shark in the world. Students observed the differences in external and internal anatomy and is the first vertebrate we've dissected in class. Students observed the large oily liver, necessary for buoyancy, the unique valvular intestine, and their specialized skin made of tiny little teeth like scales called dermal denticles. Although its skeleton is made of flexible cartilage, sharks are the first organism in the phylum Chordata that has a vertebrae.

SENIOR NIGHT - Christmas Lights Hockey Game ~ Honoring our "three" seniors with Alumni and Community invited to play in a hockey game. Game starts at 6:00pm

Since we will be in Remote Learning after the Christmas Break, GES students will take home their Chromebooks and packets at the end of this week. If you would like to pick up the items, please let your child's teacher know when you will pick up the items needed for January 5-8th.

The Health Advisory Committee has determined using State numbers for our area and other information that next week the district will be in Green, Low-Risk level. Each school building will be in session for the full day starting on Monday, Dec.14th.

The Glennallen Elementary Christmas program is scheduled to take place on December 15th at 6:00pm for K-2 grades and at 7:00pm for 3-5 grades. We want everyone to enjoy their holiday break virus free! So, we are asking families to have no more than six family members attend at the time your child's part of the program. There are a few families that have children in both grade bands and that is fine to stay for both.
We also ask that you sit with your family cohort, leave two seats between you and other families. Masks are encouraged. Limiting seating to only families of students at certain times will help us mitigate and limit the spread of viruses. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to seeing you at the holiday children programs!!

As an educational institution, CRSD expects our students to grow and to improve, becoming better and better students as they progress through their academic careers. I expect that same growth and improvement in myself as superintendent. The Board of Education will conduct an evaluation of my performance in February. I believe it is important that your perspectives as students, staff, families, and community members be included in this process. What am I doing that positively or negatively impacts the running of the District? Please fill out a comment form and send it to the District Office so the Board of Directors can consider your input. You can ask any school or the district office to print out the form. Or you can go to the crsd.us website and go to Menu>About>Comment Forms>Superintendent Comment Form to find the form there.

REMOTE LEARNING
AFTER WINTER BREAK
After the winter break, all schools of CRSD will be in remote learning mode from January 5 to January 8, 2021. Due to the State’s current travel mandate, no one who has traveled outside of the state can enter a public school for five days after they return to Alaska. The District is aware that some staff will be traveling out of state and will be unable to return onsite until later in the week of January 5. We also know that many students' families have travel plans that will place them under these restrictions. For this reason, the district will operate in a planned high-risk level for the week of January 5-8, 2021. (January 4 is a teacher inservice day, not a regular school day.) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s school.

It’s that time of year where we look forward to planning for next year.
Part of the planning process includes setting up the 2021-2022 school year calendar. We’d like your input on two options.
It is a quick survey that you can find on our website at:
